19th-century Episcopal church stands tall on South Cliff Street in Ansonia

Christ Episcopal Church, 56 S. Cliff St., Ansonia.

I snapped a photo of the stately, gothic-style church Monday while waiting for Gov. Dannel P. Malloy to arrive for a press conference at the Ansonia Library across the street.
The press conference focused on a proposal to reallocate state funding for public education.

According to the church website, the church was built of Ansonia granite and New Jersey graystone in the English gothic style.
Construction was completed in time for Christmas services in 1896, the site says.
