Memorial service set at Derby High; names sought of recently deceased veterans

Sharing a message received today from Derby Town/City Clerk Marc Garofalo:

I want to notify you that the Annual Derby-Shelton Memorial Day Service will be held on Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Derby High School, Nutmeg Avenue, Derby, CT at 7:30 pm.

This solemn service is held to honor those who gave the supreme sacrifice in defense of our country.
It also honors all veterans who have passed away in the last year, since April 30, 2015 who were residents of either the City of Derby or the City of Shelton.

Family members of those recently deceased veterans will be presented with a flower of remembrance when their name is announced.  Invitations have been sent to family members by the Parade Association.

If you are or know a family member of a veteran from Derby or Shelton who has passed away since April 30, 2015 and have not received an invitation to the service please call or email my office so that we can forward the information.

Additionally, the great Derby-Shelton Memorial Day Parade will take place, rain or shine, on Monday May 30, 2016 at 9:00 am beginning on Howe Avenue at the Intersection of Route 8 in Shelton and concluding at the corner of Elizabeth Street and Cottage Street in Derby.

We hope to see you there.
