Derby Historical Society to demonstrate open hearth cooking

ANSONIA - Visit the Derby Historical Society at the David Humphreys House from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 14) as docents demonstrate Open Hearth Cooking.

The house is at 37 Elm St.


A variety of 18th-Century seasonal favorites will be prepared over a roaring fire and visitors will be offered small samples.

Tours of the Humphreys House will be available.

The gift shop also will be open during this event for a head start on your holiday shopping.

Pick up a book on local history or an old-fashioned toy for your favorite youngster, no batteries required. Soy candles, natural soaps, and historical calendars all made locally in Ansonia and Derby will be for sale. 


Refreshments will be served. 
Admission is $5 donation.
