DERBY - TEAM Inc. announced today the Ansonia Rod & Gun Club presented the agency with a $5,000 donation in support of the Senior Service programs.
Serving more than 840 Valley seniors, many of whom are elderly and homebound, TEAM’s Senior Services include Meals on Wheels, Homemaking, and Transportation.
Without the daily and weekly contact these services provide, many of these seniors would be isolated and without interaction with the community.
Meals on Wheels, for example, provides a simple, inexpensive service that can help prevent the need for more costly services, such as hospitalizations and nursing home care. Assigned to daily routes, drivers become familiar with the routines of their senior clients, and can alert family members or emergency services if a client does not answer the door.
In response to the generous donation, Diane Stroman, TEAM Executive Vice President said, “We are extremely appreciative of this special gift from the members of the Ansonia Rod and Gun Club.
Their support of programs such as Meals on Wheels, which provides one meal a day to the home of a homebound senior, helps ensure that our elderly are not only eating, but eating food that meets the nutritional standards necessary to keep them healthy and active.
In addition, the program provides a daily social contact, something that is essential to older adults living alone.”
The Ansonia Rod & Gun Club has a storied history of supporting local programs that benefit the community. Club members pay monthly dues, which are used to support club activities, such as youth gun safety programs, as well as enabling the club to support programs such as TEAM’s Senior Services.
Horace Behrle, Treasurer for the civic-minded Ansonia Rod & Gun Club, said, “We are happy to be able to assist TEAM in their mission of helping the seniors in our community. They provide critical services to insure the wellness and well-being of our community’s greatest generation.”
This is a press release from TEAM Inc. , a private, non-profit corporation whose mission is to connect individuals and families with solutions that lead to well-being, self-sufficiency and full participation in the community.
It aims to achieve its mission by conducting activities that address the needs of economically disadvantaged individuals and families including resource mobilization, education, advocacy and service delivery.
