Each year, BHcare’s Community Partner Award is given to an individual or organization in recognition of their continued support and dedication to BHcare, its mission, and the community.

The New Haven Family Condors were recognized Oct. 29 for their dedication and fundraising efforts in support of BHcare’s The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services (UCDVS). Five years ago, they formed a bowling team and participated in their first UCDVS Bowl-2-Benefit fundraising event.

All proceeds from the event benefit domestic violence programs and services throughout the Valley, Greater New Haven and the Shoreline.

In their first year, the Condors team raised more than $1,400. Each year since they have increased their fundraising tally.

The team spends the winter months planning, securing sponsors, collecting auction items, selling tickets, and advocating for the domestic violence program.

Just before the Bowl-2-Benefit, they hold a large fundraising event in support of the program and their team. Between their team sponsorships, event ticket sales, raffle ticket sales, and other collections, their team raised an incredible $10,000 this year.

The 27th Annual Bowl-2-Benefit will be held March 14 at AMF Lanes in Milford. For more information, contact Debbie Soulsby, 203-736-2601, ext. 1321.
