Ansonia Nature Center slates sugar maple tree planting event

ANSONIA - Plant, soil, mulch, and water… We at the Ansonia Nature Center need your help at 9 a.m. Sept. 23 with placing 20 new trees into the ground! 

We are excited to announce that we received a grant from the Connecticut Urban Forest Council to plant 20 sugar maple trees. 

The Ansonia Nature Center is one step closer to achieving our dream of planting a stand of trees that will benefit future generations. We ask all to come and help us make history by being a part of our tree-planting crew. 

Tools will be provided. Groups welcome! 

The Nature Center is at 10 Deerfield Lane.

Derby Public Library offers Play, Learn, Create! Friday for preschoolers

Friday, Sept. 15 from 10-11 a.m.

DERBY - Play, Learn, Create! is a program designed for ages 2-1/2-5 at Derby Public Library. It focuses on early literacy/language, developmental and social skills with different engaging activities each session to inspire young minds.

Dramatic play, art center, sensory and concepts fun, block building and a book nook are among the offerings.

The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

Teen game night on tap Thursday at Derby Neck Library

DERBY - Join us tomorrow at Derby Neck Library in our Community Room for snacks and tabletop games like Survive!, Settlers of Catan, Twister, Jenga, foosball, pool, and more!

We’ll also have computers available to play online and browser-based games like Jackbox, Garticphone, skribbl.io, Magic: The Gathering Arena Online, Among Us, Blooket–whatever you can think of!

This program is targeted to ages 12+ and the gaming content will reflect that.
