Derby Public Library to host Creating Musical Readers program Saturday

DERBY - Derby Public Library will host New Haven Symphony Orchestra's Creating Musical Readers program at 9:15 am. Saturday.           The series features a different musician and instrument each month along with a story. 

The one-hour program is geared for ages 4-10.

This month features trombonist Scott Cranston with his book Trombone Shorty.

Kids can read to therapy dog/good listener Molly at Derby Public Library

 Molly is ready to visit Derby Public Library.

DERBY- The Derby Public Library, 313 Elizabeth St., welcomes therapy dog Molly at 10 a.m. Aug. 3.

She is following in her brother Ollie’s “paw steps” by joining B.A.R.K. (Be A Reading Kid) program for ages 4-11. 

This is a great opportunity for beginner or reluctant readers to build confidence, enhance literary skills, and develop a lifelong love of reading. 

Children are given a 10-minute time slot to read and may select a book from Molly & Ollie’s Book Picks Display to share with her.

Remember that mystery photo? Location revealed

I posted a mystery photo Nov. 10 and I know from my stats that quite a few readers saw it. 
But I only received one response from a reader who wrote on Google Plus, not in the comments, and I thank him. I always appreciate the feedback!

He was certain I snapped this photo in Shelton but wasn't sure where.

This interesting sculpture sits at the entrance to an office building at 1000 Bridgeport Ave. I noticed it when I was at Dr. Bruce Sofferman's 31st annual Thanksgiving food drive to support Spooner House.

I'll try again to get responses as soon as I find another mystery photo!

It's Friday?!?

With my current recuperation situation I hardly know what day it is. That's so unlike me. 

This really is a different schedule, temporary though it may be! 
It's almost like being retired, I suppose. And I'm definitely not retired, merely tired.

I'd just like to thank everyone for stopping by and reading my posts documenting my return to normal after my kidney transplant. 

I see that the posts are getting a lot of views. Much appreciated!
