SHELTON - Join Valley Shakespeare Festival's fifth annual Staged Reading of Charles Dickens' perennial classic "A Christmas Carol" at 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at Plumb Memorial Library.
Audience members will join Ebenezer Scrooge on his transformational journey through his own personal darkness of bitterness and disillusion on that fateful Christmas Eve and emerge with him on that brilliant Christmas morning with renewed faith in humanity.
Presented without elaborate period costuming and staging, VSF's production puts the emphasis on the true meaning of the story.

SEYMOUR - Seymour High School will present “It’s a Wonderful Life: Radio Play” at 7 p.m. Dec. 15 and at 2 p.m. Dec. 16.
Admission is $10.
The one-act play is suitable for all ages.
The play reproduces the Frank Capra and Jimmy Stewart holiday classic.
It is set in a 1940s' radio studio with actors playing multiple voice roles, sound effects artists, and announcers.
The studio audience will enjoy the applause signs and meeting the actors before the production as they “report for work” in the 1940s.
“It’s A Wonderful Life” is directed by senior Abigail Andrade.
Seniors Anna Peel and Stephanie Perez are art directors, senior Bella Torri is stage manager, and junior Rachel Moon is technical director.
The play is being produced by faculty advisors Brandt Schneider, Stephanie Ciccone, and Darlene Keeffe.
Sophomore Michael Starkey plays the iconic Jimmy Stewart role as George Bailey.
Freshman Shyanne Gonzalez makes her SHS stage debut as Mary.
Sophomore Phil Fioretti has the role of announcer Freddie Filmore.
Junior Eliana Arroyo is the Foley Artist, and junior Sophia Fioretti voices the role of Clara, the novice angel.
The cast includes 15 other students.
In May Seymour High School was awarded a HALO award for Best Contemporary Play. SHS will be producing "Wizard of Oz" in March.
“It’s A Wonderful Life” will be staged at Seymour High School auditorium, 2 Botsford Road.
