This week's "Turnback Tuesday" features J.W. Peck - the first superintendent of Derby Public Schools.
Mr. Peck is the gentleman on the right in the short, dark coat. He worked in the Derby school system for 33 years, 18 of which serving as superintendent. When he retired in 1912, he was named Superintendent-Emeritus at a salary of $1,000.
Peck was born on Feb.10,1852 in Trumbull and died Aug.16,1917 at the age of 65.
