Ho, ho, ho! Ansonia lights Christmas tree, welcomes Santa

The multi-colored lights of Ansonia's Christmas tree in Veterans Memorial Park next to City Hall were turned on Friday night. It was a wonderful, community event.
I realize the star is a bit blurry, but you get the idea.

Event coordinator Rich DiCarlo gets a giant snowman ready for the crowd.

Santa was there to greet the children before the "real one" arrived by firetruck.

City officials estimated about 400 people turned out for the tree lighting. The weather certainly cooperated.
"Smile for the camera!"

"It's a secret."
"Can you say that a little bit louder?"
This little boy had lots to tell Santa.

Ansonia event coordinator Rich DiCarlo, left, and Mayor David S. Cassetti strike a pose with my husband, Cultural Commission chairman Ralph Villers.
The annual Christmas tree lighting and visit from Santa was run by members of the commission.

"Away in a manger..." This Nativity scene is set up on the Green next to City Hall, as it has been in years past.
