Derby Public Library celebrates Jazz Appreciation Month

DERBY - In addition to recognizing National Poetry Month and National Nutrition Month, Derby Public Library is also celebrating National Jazz Appreciation Month in April.
Jazz Appreciation Month (fondly known as "JAM") was created by the Smithsonian's National Museum of American History in 2001 to recognize and celebrate the extraordinary heritage and history of jazz.
"JAM" is intended to stimulate and encourage people of all ages to participate in jazz - to study the music, attend concerts, listen to jazz on streaming apps, the radio and recordings, read books about jazz, and more.
Here at Derby Public Library we offer a wide assortment of recordings and print/online resources to help you enjoy and celebrate the American-born institution that is jazz music.

So "B sharp" and check out everyone from Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald to Bob Fosse and Billie Holiday to Harry Connick, Jr. (who performed at Derby's own Sterling Opera House), Nora Jones and Michael Bublé.
There's something for everyone at Derby Public Library!

The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

This is shared from the Library's Facebook page.
