'Turnback Tuesday' features downtown Derby store

'Turnback Tuesday' is highlighting Alex (Alexander) Horbal, a dealer in choice groceries and meats located at 135 Main St., Derby from 1905-1913.
Not only did they supply eggs, butter, cheese, and notions, but they were also a steamship ticket agent and able to forward money to all parts of the world.
Interestingly, their phone number was 586-5, a much shorter number when compared to today’s standard 10 digit ones.

Thanks as always to Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week!
