"This is an update from Mayor Dave Cassetti on the flooding that occurred yesterday.
"Due to the damage caused by the heavy flooding from yesterday’s storm, North Main Street between Main Street and Fourth Street is closed to traffic.
"The city engineers and public works are working with the State DOT to evaluate and repair the damage.
"North Main Street will remain closed until the road is safe for travel. Commuters are asked to avoid the area and find alternate routes. Traffic delays should be expected. "Due to the rising waters, the flood gates were closed last evening. The river levels have lowered and all flood gates are now open. Metro North is working on repairs to the tracks to start up train service.
"Please check City of Ansonia and Ansonia Police Department sites for more information. Updates will be provided later this afternoon.
I will update you with more information as we receive it. Stay safe and God Bless you all."
