'Turnback Tuesday' features Star Pin Co. in Shelton

Turnback Tuesday shows a package of needles manufactured by the Star Pin Co.
The company was established in Wells Hollow (Town of Huntington) on Sept. 25, 1866.
Prompted by their success, they moved to the new village on Canal Street in 1875, then later expanded in 1906, doubling their floor space. Charles E. Clark served as President from 1896 -1913. Clark also served as Treasurer for Derby Public Library from May, 1901 to May, 1913.

The question has been asked: "Where do all the pins go?" The manufacturer says: “They are headed in one way and pointed in another."

Thanks as always to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week!
