'I Am Your Father's Day' fun slated Saturday at Ansonia Library


ANSONIA - Attention Star Wars fans young and old! 
Come celebrate "I Am Your Father's Day" at the Ansonia Library at 10 a.m. Saturday for this two-hour, Father's Day weekend kickoff event!
From Dads to Moms, Padawans to Jedis, and Wookies to Droids...all are welcome to come and meet members of the Connecticut Garrison of the 501st Legion, decked out in their best Star Wars attire AND celebrate the dads in your galaxy!
You do NOT have to be a library card holder to attend the "I Am Your Father's Day" event, but if you're an Ansonia resident and would like to register for a library card, we can help you with that!
The Library is at 53 St. Cliff St.

Derby Public Library slates in-person discussion of 'The Beach House'


DERBY - Derby Public Library will hold an In-Person Book Discussion of "The Beach House" by Jane Green 1 p.m. June 23.

Derby Neck Library to present Deck Masters round-robin tournaments


DERBY - You've been playing Magic: The Gathering and the Pokémon Trading Card Game for awhile now, so here's your chance to really show off your skills! 
At Derby Neck Library's Deckmasters Tournament from 1-5 p.m. Saturday, players are invited to register in our round-robin tournaments as follows:
- Pokémon TCG Tournament: Players up to age 18 using their own decks--limit 4 Pokémon cards worth >1 prize card
- Magic: The Gathering Tournament: Players of all ages using a mystery deck provided by the library
When all players have battled each other, a prize will be given to whoever has the most wins in each tournament!
Registration is on a first-come first-served basis, and all players must arrive by 1:15 p.m. in order to enter.

Ansonia Police charge 2 with unlawful discharge, interfering after shots fired

ANSONIA - Two people were charged with firing a gun after Ansonia Police received a call of shots fired at 3:40 a.m. Sunday in the area of Beaver Street near the Seymour town line, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a written release. 

The first officer on scene found a truck parked off the road near the woods and when the officer exited the cruiser, two people ran into the woods. The officer was able to detain the first person but the second person remained in the woods for over an hour before coming out, Lynch said

The two people, identified as Jesse Bonavia and Brianna Solsbury, admitted to firing a gun owned by Bonavia and officers recovered the gun as well as shell casings, Lynch said.


Bonavia, 29, of Hamden was charged with unlawful discharge and interfering. 

Solsbury, 29, of Waterbury was charged with unlawful discharge and Interfering. 


They both were released on $5,000 bonds and are both scheduled to appear June 27 at Derby Superior Court.
