Derby Historical Society readies Elm Street lantern tours, spooky fun

ANSONIA - Join the Derby Historical Society Oct. 28 for a lantern-lit walking tour of the Ansonia Historic District.

But stay alert! You never know who you will meet along the way. When you return to the David Humphreys House, join our storyteller Carolyn Stearns out back for a hot drink and more spooky tales by the fire.

Tours depart at 6, 7, and 8 p.m. and are about one hour in length. Please choose a tour time when purchasing your tickets.

Stearns will be performing from 6-9 p.m. and you may join her any time before or after your tour.

Tours depart from the David Humphreys House at 37 Elm St. There is parking in the lot behind our House as well as along Thomas Street. Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear walking shoes. It will be dark but lanterns will be provided.

Tickets can be purchased through our website by clicking the ticket link below, by check or by calling us at 203-735-1908.

Rain date: Saturday, Oct. 29.

Seymour Pink Day slated to celebrate, spread breast cancer awareness

What is Seymour Pink Day?

It's an opportunity to SEE MORE PINK and help spread awareness of breast cancer, honor our survivors, and remember the taken.

It's an opportunity for the community to come together in the fight against breast cancer. It's an opportunity to remind our loved ones to get their mammograms and necessary breast cancer screenings.

On Oct. 19, Seymour Pink Day, we invite you to shop at New Morning Market in Woodbury - we'll be there from 10:30 a.m.- 2:30 p.m. For everyone who wears pink into the store, we'll earn $1 donation!
Then join us at Hot Tamale in Seymour from 3 p.m. onward for our Seymour Pink Day celebration. Door prizes, music, and fun will ensue.

Of course, so many businesses in our area will be celebrating too, and many are celebrating with specials all month long. We are so grateful!

However you plan to celebrate, we can't wait to see it! Be sure to share your photos on social media with #seymourpinkday

Let's make this Seymour Pink Day one of our biggest yet!
