Derby official shares message about closings, cancellations

"Based on the directive of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy regarding nonessential state employees, Derby City Hall, Derby Senior Center, and the Derby Public Library will be closed on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 due to the storm. - http://portal.ct.gov/Office-of-the-Governor/Winter-Storm-Updates-March-14-2017

"Regarding Wednesday March 15, 2017, please refer to the City of Derby Website for any further information.

"Also, all City of Derby government meetings scheduled for tomorrow, Tuesday March 14, 2017 have been cancelled. - http://www.derbyct.gov/index.cfm?fuseaction=content.eventCalendar&typeID=40422

"Mayor Anita Dugatto, in cooperation with the Derby Police Department, Derby Fire Department, the Storm Ambulance Corps, and the Derby Office of Emergency Management have instituted a Winter Storm Eugene Web page as part of the City of Derby Website - http://www.derbyct.gov/Office-of-Emergency-Management/

"On behalf of the entire City of Derby, please be safe during the coming storm," Derby Town/City Clerk Marc Garofalo said in the email.

Ansonia Police Department posts parking ban

ANSONIA - The parking ban for the City of Ansonia will begin at 6 P.M. tonight and be in effect until further notice for all streets in the city. 

There will no on street parking allowed, vehicles in violation will be towed. 

Residents can use the following city owned parking lots for parking:

Main Street Municipal Lot
East Main Street Municipal Lot
West Main Street Municipal Lot
Ansonia High School 20 Pulaski Highway
Ansonia Middle School 115 Howard Avenue
Prendergast School 59 Finney Street
Mead School 75 Ford Street
Nolan Field Wakelee Avenue
Ansonia Armory North Cliff Street
Colony Park Colony Street

If you are going to use any of the school lots please do not park there until after 4 p.m. today.

Ansonia resident seeks help for 5 families displaced by Friday's fire

This is one of two multi-family houses heavily damaged by fire Friday night at the corner of Fourth and Liberty streets in Ansonia.

ANSONIA - Resident Missy Lundeen, a volunteer with the Red Cross, is working hard to help five families displaced by a fire last Friday night.

There is also a GoFundMe page set up for the Martinez/Pozo family, with a goal of raising $15,000.
