2 Ansonia Police officers congratulated on promotions

Congratulations to Eric Sturges and Michael Castillo on their recent promotions for the Ansonia Police Department.

Eric, a 22-year member of the department, was promoted to Detective Sergeant and will supervisor the Detective Bureau.

Michael, a 12-year member of the department, was promoted to Sergeant and will supervise the midnight shift in the Patrol Division.

NHSO musician to present at Derby Public Library Saturday

Creating Musical Readers Series by New Haven Symphony Orchestra

DERBY - Derby Public Library will host a Creating Musical Readers program at 9:15 a.m. this Saturday, April 15.

The NHSO series is geared to ages 4-10 and focuses on a different musician/instrument each month plus a story.

Bassoonist Remy Taghavi and his book, Ralph’s Secret Weapon will be featured.

The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

Ansonia Animal Control Officer recognized for her dedication to job

National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week

ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti and Police Chief Wayne Williams were pleased to receive a letter of recognition for Animal Control Officer Jeanie Roslonowski for her hard work and dedication to the profession. (see letter attached)

"National Animal Control Officer Appreciation Week is celebrated every year on the second full week of April. This year, it takes place from April 9 to 15. It’s a week when communities are encouraged to learn about what the job of animal control really entails and to be grateful for those who them. In the past, the ‘evil dog-catcher’ was something you would see often in kids’ cartoons, but this depiction only promotes children’s negative perception of the trade. In reality, animal control officers risk their lives to protect both animals that are sick or injured and humans from animals that may be violent or have contagious diseases."
