Griffin Health, Safe Kids offer monthly child passenger safety clinics in Derby



DERBY - Griffin Health and Safe Kids Greater Naugatuck Valley offer free monthly child passenger safety clinics every third Tuesday of the month from 3-5 p.m. in the Griffin Health Community Outreach parking lot at 4 Mountain St.
The clinics will help parents, caregivers and children learn the importance of child car seats, how to properly install them and the appropriate positioning of a child in car seats or booster seats. Free new car seats will be available to families that qualify through a grant from Safe Kids Worldwide and State Farm Insurance.
Appointments are required.

Ansonia Police recognize outstanding work by Officer Paul Smith, K9 partner

The Ansonia Police Department would like to recognize Officer Paul Smith and his K9 partner Kane for some outstanding work this past week.

On Saturday [July 27] Officer Smith and Kane assisted the Milford Police Department in evidence recovery after a male wanted on felony charges fled from the Milford Police. 

Officer Smith and Kane were able to locate a knife and personal items discarded by the suspect in a wooded area. The suspect was located and taken into custody by the Milford Police Department.

On Tuesday Officer Smith and Kane located a suspect in an evading motor vehicle accident in Ansonia after he abandoned his car. 

Officer Smith and Kane tracked the suspect from his car and he was taken into custody without further incident.
