Ansonia Senior Center to offer cooling center for residents

Mayor David S. Cassetti

ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti would like to make sure all Ansonia residents have a location to cool off during the peak times of the current heat wave.
The Ansonia Senior Center will be open daily through Wednesday, July 17 from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. and will have a section for a cooling center for residents to beat the heat.
As a reminder, the Senior Center remains in normal operation and activities in the Senior Center outside of the designated cooling area are for their membership participation only.
Residents are also encouraged to find other cool opportunities, such as a visit to the library, browsing around one of our air-conditioned retail stores downtown, the splash pad, or simply meeting in a coffee shop, but remember to order iced coffee!
Anyone who needs a cool place to get some relief can call 2-1-1 or visit 211ct.org to get directed to their nearest cooling center.
Additionally, 2-1-1 can connect anyone in need with the transportation necessary to get to a cooling center.”
Please remember to check in on your neighbors, especially any elderly folks who may need some additional assistance during the heatwave.

Remember to hydrate not only yourself but also your pets. Limit the time outside for you and your pets. Also be mindful of the surface temperature that your pets are walking on while outside.
Please be safe and cool over the next few days and remember to keep an eye on your neighbors and pets during this time. May God bless you all and may God bless the great vity of Ansonia.
