'Turnback Tuesday' features history of Derby High School yearbook

Turnback Tuesday features the Derby High School yearbook called the “Lookout.”

The logo is of a Clipper Ship like the ones built in Derby. The Lookout was another name for the Crow’s Nest.

Derby Public Library has copies of The Lookout going back to 1901. These books started out as publications from the high school students themselves talking about school activities and the like. The first Lookout, including photos of the students, was published in 1935.

This Turnback is also a request to help the Library complete its collection. We are missing the following years: 1936, 1938, 1939, 1999, and 2006.

Donations appreciated and accepted at the Library’s discretion.

Thanks goes to Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
