Kids to create, test 'roller coasters' at Seymour Public Library program


SEYMOUR - Roll, twist, loop, and speed down the track as you design, create, and test your own rollercoaster at Seymour Public Library!
Explore how various forces can influence motion as you try to get your passenger safely to the end! 
Program will be held at 10:30 a.m. July 11 and is perfect for kids in Grades 3-5.
Registration is required and limited for this program. The Library is at 46 Church St.

Ansonia students offered free breakfast, lunch during summer break


 
Ansonia Families,
Ansonia School Nutrition is serving breakfast and lunch at Ansonia High School all summer long at no cost to you.
Anyone under the age of 18 is allowed to participate.
Breakfast is served from 7-9 a.m. Monday through Friday (except July 4) and lunch is served from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
All meals are being served out of Ansonia High Schools Cafe.

Ansonia Police seek public's assistance in locating man, 48

Jose Solano

ANSONIA - Ansonia Police Department is looking for the public's assistance in locating Jose Solano, a 48-year old Hispanic male who made threats of self harm.

Jose is 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighs 145 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue shorts.

He drives a 2012 Honda Accord color gray with CT license plate 541TRN. Jose was last seen on June 15, 2023 in the area of North Main Street and Ridge Road.

Seymour Public Library slates 'Science Heroes' show for all ages


SEYMOUR  - Seymour Public Library will host 'Science Heroes,' an action-packed story about two unlikely heroes who work together to save their town (and the planet) from a super-polluting mastermind!
The show will be held at 10:30 a.m. July 5.
Throughout the adventure, volunteers will help the performer conduct several exciting science experiments that bring this story to life! Perfect for families.

Ansonia Nature Center to sponsor DEEP family fishing class


ANSONIA - Learn to fish for free! 
The Ansonia Nature and Recreation Center is sponsoring the Department of Environmental Protection C.A.R.E. (Connecticut Aquatic Resources Education) family fishing class. 
This opportunity is for interested people of all ages to learn about fish identification, fishing tackle, and techniques, how to cast, where to catch fish, and much more. 

The two-hour classroom instruction will be held at the nature center June 22 from 6-8 p.m. and will be followed by fishing with the instructors and CARE interns at Colony Pond from 8:30-11:30 a.m. June 24.

All equipment and bait will be provided. Adults over the age of 16 are required to have a fishing license to participate in the event. 

Both adults and youth should acquire proper licensing online at the CT DEEP licensing system.

DERBY - Join author Jeff Belanger at 6 p.m. June 28 at Derby Public Library to explore Africa's highest peak with a multimedia program and Q&A.
