Derby Public Library closing Monday to observe Juneteenth holiday


DERBY - Derby Public Library will be closed Monday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. 

Outside book drops will be open to return library items. 

And you can always enjoy the great selection of eBooks, audiobooks, movies and TV shows using the online resources found on our website (www.derbypubliclibrary.org), Libby and Hoopla, where you can borrow and enjoy a plethora of online media everywhere you have a screen – your computer, your phone, your car, even your smart TV!

2023 Summer Concert Lineup:

7/11- Morgan Skelley & The Old Crows- "A little bit Country, a little bit Rock & Roll," pretty much sums up Morgan Skelly and the Old Crows. This New England based 4-piece will absolutely leave the crowd wanting more. Covering artists such as Tom Petty, Kenny Chesney, John Mellencamp, The Eagles, Jason Aldean, and many more, the Old Crows provide top tier music entertainment to suit any situation.

7/18 - Social Convention - The Social Convention is an old time Rock Band playing great music from the 60's to the 90's. We've been performing all around CT for over 25 years and enjoy entertaining the crowds.

7/25- Shameless - Shameless doesn’t just play music. You can hire a DJ for that.
These five musicians put on an interactive show, inviting their current and future fans to be a part of the performance. Shameless knows that everybody has different taste in music so they encourage crowd participation while playing all your favorite party rock, dance, hip-hop and country songs. This band is out to have a great time just as much as you are! Tired of seeing the same party bands that play the same music? See what you’re missing and “get a little.... Shameless!”

8/1- Leaf Jumpers - Leaf Jumpers play the rock hits of the past 40 years! If you're a fan of U2, REM, Matchbox 20, Pearl Jam and The Police, you'll love Leaf Jumpers. Excellent musicianship and thoroughly entertaining!

8/8 - 100 Proof - Blasting out some of the industry's Country and Rock.

8/15 - Bill & Brett Calabrese Acoustic - Acoustic duo performs unique versions of your favorite classic rock, pop and blues tunes!

8/22 - Nashville Drive - Nashville Drive is Connecticut’s premier modern Country band showcasing originals and paying tribute to some of today’s top country favorites. Nashville Drive performs throughout New England, NJ and NY covering a wide range of today’s top country artists from Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown Band, Toby Keith, Blake Shelton, Brooks & Dunn, Kenny Chesney, George Strait as well as their own originals. Their debut cd reached #13 on the iTunes top new country music downloads in 2015 and they have opened for national recording artists such as: Lanco, Colt Ford, Craig Campbell, Molly Hatchet, Josh Thompson, The LACS, Mo Pitney, Casey James, Jason Sturgeon, Kendall Phillips, Changes In Latitude and more!

Derby Public Library to kick off summer reading with family fun



DERBY - Derby Public Library will host a summer reading kickoff on the front lawn from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. June 24. The Library is at 313 Elizabeth St.

There will be a variety of outdoor games available, as well as a fun art project offered by Lisa Lupa.
