Derby Police officers took part in today's Special Olympics torch run

In today's 2023 Law Enforcement Torch Run Derby Police Department officers took guardianship of the torch from Shelton PD officers and later transferred it to Ansonia PD officers.
We support the Special Olympic athletes.

Boys & Girls Club members receive college scholarships; congratulations all!


SHELTON - Congratulations to our “Club kids” from the Boys & Girls Club of the Lower Naugatuck Valley who received college scholarships totaling nearly $33,000 to help them pursue their secondary education after high school.

The scholarships are funded by philanthropists who are dedicated to seeing the next generation succeed.

With career choices ranging from criminal justice to social work, they are our future workforce and leaders, and we are so proud of them! ✨

Griffin Bariatrics to offer virtual seminars on weight-loss services



DERBY - Griffin Bariatrics will offer free virtual presentations on weight-loss services on June 21 at 5:30 p.m., June 27 at noon, July 19 at 5:30 p.m., July 25 at noon, Aug. 7 at 5:30 p.m., Aug. 16 at 5:30 p.m., and  Aug. 29 at noon.


Led by Griffin Hospital Director of Bariatrics Dr. Abe Fridman, these seminars will explain how bariatric surgery can help patients lose significant amounts of weight, enhance their health, and provide long-term outcomes. Additionally, techniques, support programs, pre- and post-operative expectations, and insurance questions are also discussed.

Shelton police: Expect traffic delays today during Special Olympics Torch run


The law enforcement torch run for Special Olympics is coming through Shelton today (Friday, June 2). Runners will start at 1:00 on Nichols Ave at the Shelton/Trumbull line and end downtown by the Shelton/Derby line.

Motorists should expect minor delays.

Seymour Police to take part in Special Olympics torch run on Route 67 today


Special Olympics Torch Run Traffic Advisory:
Expect traffic delays from 3-4 p.m. today, June 2 on Route 67 as the torch run passes from the Oxford town line to the Woodbridge town line.

Seymour Police Officers will be running in the torch run, so if you see them out there, cheer them on!

Seymour Public Library to show movie 'Champions' Wednesday


SEYMOUR - Join us at 1 p.m. June 7 in the lower level auditorium of Seymour Public Library to watch a movie! 
Light refreshments will be served.
We'll be showing "Champions" starring Woody Harrelson, Kaitlin Olson, Ernie Hudson, and Cheech Marin. 
It is rated PG-13 and its duration is 2 hours, 4 minutes.
Summary: A former minor-league basketball coach receives a court order to manage a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Despite his doubts, he soon realizes that together they can go further than they ever imagined.

Ansonia Police to participate in CT Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics

The Ansonia Police Department is participating in the Connecticut Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics today.

Please join us along the route to cheer us on. The route schedule is below.

The route will be traveling in the downtown area so please be advised that between 2:30 PM and 3:30 PM today there will be some traffic delays. Thank you.
