Ansonia Nature Center to hold morning hike Saturday


ANSONIA - Join Nature Center Director Alison Rubelmann and Ranger Maria for a walk from 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday.

Discover the beauty of the Nature Center’s typical New England woodland. This hike will be an educational and entertaining hike to identify nature along the way while we explore Raptor Woods trail and beyond. 

Dress for hiking: we recommend sturdy shoes, water, and a small snack. Please register in advance as space will be limited.

The Nature Center is at 10 Deerfield Lane.

Derby Middle School Jr. Honor Society donates care packages to Cancer Center

DERBY - Derby Middle School National Junior Honor Society Treasurer Julianne Meagher recently delivered 48 cancer patient care packages to The Center for Cancer Care at Griffin Hospital.


The packages contain needed comfort items to help patients recover after cancer treatment, including bottled water, lip balm, and skin lotion. Additionally, there are encouraging and supportive handwritten notes from members of the Derby Middle School National Junior Honor Society in each package.


The packages are Julianne’s community service project for the National Junior Honor Society. 

They were made possible thanks to donations from Knights of Columbus Council 28 of St. Mary the Immaculate Conception Church in Derby, Stop & Shop in Ansonia, and Griffin Hospital Pharmacy & Gifts.

Seymour Public Library to show movie 'Moving On' Friday


SEYMOUR - Join us at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the lower level auditorium of Seymour Public Library to watch a movie. Light refreshments will be served.
We'll be showing "Moving On" starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Malcolm McDowell, Sarah Burns, and Richard Roundtree. 
It is rated R and its duration is 1 hour, 25 minutes.
Summary: Two estranged former friends reconnect at the funeral of another mutual friend, and decide to exact revenge on their dead friend's widower for the harm he caused to one of them decades earlier.
