Festival on Huntington Green in Shelton to celebrate Jewish life, culture


SHELTON - Organizers are excited to announce the opening of registration tickets, entertainment info, vendor sign-up, and more for the Shelton Jewish Festival 2023!
The festival will be held June 25 from 12:30-3 p.m. on the Huntington Green.
The festival will feature family entertainment, Klezmer band, Jewish Jazz band, an awesome "Foam Party Experience" for kids, and traditional Jewish foods, including kosher deli and potato knishes (menu to be released later this month).
Admission, music, and kids' activities will be at no charge. The food will be for sale.

Shelton History Center to host Open House Day activities



SHELTON - “The purpose of this event is to inspire Connecticut residents to learn about all the experiences in their own backyard,” so stop by Shelton History Center from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. to learn more about Shelton’s history!

Help us plant the pumpkin patch, tour historic buildings, and try some games and activities in the Wilson Barn and Trap Falls School.
Be a farmer for the day—the old-fashioned way— and take home your own bitty seedling to nurture. This event is 100% free, so stop by on June 10!

Seymour Public Library to show movie 'Shazam! Fury of the Gods' Wednesday


 

SEYMOUR - Join us at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the lower level auditorium of Seymour Public Library to watch a movie. Light refreshments will be served.
We'll be showing "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" starring Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, D. J. Cotrona, Grace Caroline Currey, Meagan Goo, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren. 
It is rated PG-13 and its duration is 2 hours, 10 minutes.
Summary: Bestowed with the powers of the gods, Billy Batson and his fellow foster kids are still learning how to juggle teenage life with their adult superhero alter egos. When a vengeful trio of ancient gods arrives on Earth in search of the magic stolen from them long ago, Shazam and his allies get thrust into a battle for their superpowers, their lives, and the fate of the world.

CT Foodshare Truck to visit St. Mary's parking lot Tuesday in Derby

DERBY - The Connecticut Foodshare truck will return to St. Mary's Church parking lot Tuesday from 2:30- 3:15 p.m.

No income requirements, no questions asked, just bring bags to receive fresh food.

Citizens Engine Co. No. 2 in Seymour selling T-shirts


SEYMOUR - In honor of Independence Day, C2 will be selling a first of its kind T-shirt!

Derby Public Library to host discussion of mystery novel



DERBY - Derby Public library to host a discussion of "The Death of Mrs. Christie" by Marie Benedict at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The Washington Post notes that “this is a stunning story that has an ingenious ending…it's possible that Benedict has brought to life the most plausible explanation for why Christie disappeared for 11 days in 1926.”

Children ages 3-5 and their caregivers can come to the Huntington Branch Library on Thursdays from 11-11:30 a.m. for a story, craft, movement, and music!
*Each child must be registered individually, with the name of the caregiver provided*
