Ansonia Police respond to complaint of male with 'altered mental status'

 

ANSONIA - Ansonia Police investigated a complaint at about 3 a.m. today of a person with an altered mental status on Prospect Street. 

The male was reported to be acting irrationally, and armed with a handgun. 

The male refused to exit the home when contacted by police. 

With the assistance of a relative, the male was convinced to exit the house where he was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment. 

A search warrant at the home located two firearms, police said. 

No arrest has been made at this time and the investigation is still ongoing.

Seymour Public Library offers quilting workshops

SEYMOUR - Learn how to quilt with the stitching coach, Dawn Zillich, at 6 p.m. March 30 at Seymour Public Library.

The Library has a limited amount of the necessary sewing machines for these workshops available for use on a first-come first-served basis. Registration is required and seating is limited.

Workshop dates and topics are as follows:

- Thursday, March 30, 6-8 P.M: Session 1 - Rail Fence
- Tuesday, April 18, 6-8 PM: Session 2 - Patchwork
- Tuesday, May 2, 6-8 PM: Session 3 - Bear Paw
- Tuesday, May 9, 6-8 PM: Session 4 - Churn Dash
- Tuesday, May 16, 6-8 PM: Session 5 - Sawtooth Star

These sessions are free and will be held at the Library, 46 Church St.

Seymour Public Library to show movie, 'She Said'

SEYMOUR - Join us March 15 in the lower level auditorium of Seymour Public Library to watch a movie! The movie starts at 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served.

The Library is at 46 Church St.

We'll be showing "She Said" starring Carey Mulligan, Zoe Kazan, Patricia Clarkson, Andre Braugher, and Jennifer Ehle. 

It is rated R and its duration is 2 hours 9 minutes.

Summary: "New York Times" reporters Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey try to piece together the details of one of the most controversial stories in recent history, one that would help launch the #MeToo movement. 

Their objective is to find out the truth about the sexual harassment allegations against Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Weinstein. They face the obstacle of no female survivors of the incidents seem to want to go on the record to corroborate their story.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton to host 'Books and Bricks' kids' program

SHELTON - Join Miss Maura at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Plumb Memorial Library for "Books and Bricks" as we share a read-aloud book followed by time to build something connected to the story out of Duplo bricks and other types of preschool bricks too!

Caregivers must remain with their children for program duration. The program is for ages 3 and up.
