'Turnback Tuesday' features panoramic view of Derby, 2 rivers
Turnback Tuesday gives a panoramic view of Derby/Birmingham and East Derby.
This image was taken on the hill in Shelton overlooking the 2 rivers. To the extreme left with the purple arrow is the Shelton/Derby Bridge. The spires with the 3 red arrows are the 2nd Congregational, Methodist, and St. James Churches next to the Derby Green.
The Housatonic River is in the foreground with a yellow arrow, while the Naugatuck River to the right is marked with a blue arrow. Over the Naugatuck River is the Main Street Bridge marked with a green arrow.
Last is the Old Congregational Church on Derby Avenue marked with a black arrow. We do not have an exact date as to when this image was taken.
Thanks goes to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
