City to open cooling center this week at Ansonia High School
ANSONIA - Mayor David S. Cassetti and Superintendent of Schools Joe DiBacco are opening up Ansonia High School tomorrow, from noon-4 p.m., Tuesday-Friday as a cooling center for our residents.
The school is at 20 Pulaski Highway.

Presentation about black bears slated at Ansonia Armory
ANSONIA - Animal Control Officer Jeanie Roslonowski will be hosting a Wildlife Seminar at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Ansonia Armory, 5 State St.

Flock of feathered friends to visit Derby Neck Library
DERBY - All ages are invited to join us at 4 p.m. Thursday in our garden at Derby Neck Library with Joel the Chicken Expert and his flock of feathered friends!
Joel will tell us all about how to care for chickens, types of chickens, and more on what living with a flock is all about.
Afterwards, attendees will be able to ask Joel questions and pet the chickens.
The Library is at 307 Hawthorne Ave.

Recuperation journey: Waiting for peanuts
I have four or five blue jays that screech at me every day until I give them their peanuts. Here is one of them on this dreary afternoon.
They wait and watch until I throw some outside.
