St. Mary-St. Michael School in Derby to hold bottle and can drive

DERBY - A Bottle and Can Drive will be held 9 a.m. to noon July 19 in front of St. Mary-St. Michael School, 14 Seymour Ave.

All of the proceeds go to support student programs.

We also accept used sneakers and will be collecting Coke rewards.

Regional household hazardous waste collection slated in Bethlehem

The next multi-town Hazardous Waste Day will be held July 16 at the Bethlehem Elementary School. Ansonia is eligible to attend. 

Event will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Huntington Branch Library in Shelton to host Stuffie Story Time fun

SHELTON - Children ages 0-6 and their caregivers can join Miss Jessica at the Huntington Branch Library, 41 Church St., for special pajama story time with their favorite stuffie!

The stuffies will have the option to sleep over at the library, and Miss Jessica will create a special slideshow to share their adventures!

Stuffies must be picked up between 10 a.m.-4 p.m. July 8.

This is an indoor, in-person program. Space is limited; registration is required.

Each CHILD must be registered individually, with the name of the caregiver provided. Masks will be available to patrons upon request.

Shelton-Derby Fireworks, concert slated Friday at Veterans Memorial Park

SHELTON - The Shelton-Derby Fireworks will take place Friday, July 1 at Veterans Memorial Park.

A special concert with Darik & The Funbags will start at 7 p.m. with fireworks following, starting at approximately 9:20 p.m.

*Howe Avenue in the area of Veterans Park will close at 7:30 p.m.

The municipal lot on Howe Avenue will be available for handicap parking and those who have received parking passes from Parks & Recreation.

In the event of rain, the fireworks will take place the following day.
