Derby to restrict parking on Elizabeth Street on Thursday, Friday

DERBY - Please be advised that milling and paving will take place on Elizabeth Street from Main Street to Cottage Street on Thursday May 19, and Friday May 20. 


 

Parking will be restricted on both sides of the street between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on both days.

 

Derby Police will manage traffic during theses times.

 

We regret any inconvenience.



Derby Neck Library to host talk on financial exploitations


DERBY - Join us at Derby Neck Library in the Community Room at 6:30 p.m. May 26 for a free, informative talk by Al Rothstein of the law firm Drazen Rubin Law. 

His lecture will address financial exploitations, offering details on the warning signs of the problem and an explanation of the known tips and strategies to prevent it.

'Turnback Tuesday' (on Wednesday) features Home Trust Co. building in Derby


DERBY - Turnback Tuesday looks at the Home Trust Co. at 293 Main St. Incorporated in 1893 and specialized in savings, real estate management, insurance and trust department functions.

Building built in 1901 and occupied the first floor. One of the trust company original officers was H. Holton Wood, a benefactor of Derby Public Library. Charles N. Downs was also an original officer for the company as well as an original Library board member, 1901-1924. Robert S. Gardner, trustee for the company in the 1930s, was also a board member for the library from 1918-1941.
