Ansonia Police seek suspect in shooting Tuesday on Fourth Street

ANSONIA - The Ansonia Police Department investigated a report of person shot at about 1:55 p.m. Tuesday on Fourth Street near North Main Street, Lt. Patrick Lynch said in a release. 

Officers located a 39-year-old male on Fourth Street. The male was shot once in the leg and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The victim is a resident of New Haven and his injury does not appear to be life threatening.

A suspect in the shooting is described as a tall, thin black male who last seen running down Fourth Street towards Star Street.

Ansonia High School will be back to in-person classes Wednesday

Hello Ansonia High School Parents,

We will be back to a normal in-person school day tomorrow (2/17)!

Students should report to school at the normal time. All students that have to quarantine have been contacted.

'Turnback Tuesday' features photo of Derby High School Class of '29

Turnback Tuesday takes another step back in time to Derby High School with the graduating class of 1929.

There were a total of 59 graduates that year, with 56 pictured here.

These graduates saw many things happen in 1929:

Popeye's debut; the St. Valentine’s Day massacre in Chicago, first car radio, public phone booths appeared in London, Grand Teton National Park established, 7-Up invented, San Francisco's longest bridge in the world opened and the devastating Stock Market Crash of Oct. 24-29. Anne Frank and Martin Luther King Jr. were born and Wyatt Earp passed.

Thanks goes to Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.

Plumb Memorial Library in Shelton is now open

DiBacco announces positive COVID-19 case at Ansonia High School

ANSONIA - During the evening of Feb. 15, 2021, we were notified of a positive COVID-19 case at Ansonia High School.

Out of an abundance of caution and for contact tracing purposes, all teachers and students at AHS will be in REMOTE operations for Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021.
