We will be meeting at Veterans Memorial Park next to City Hall at 3 p.m. Thursday.
About 3:30, we’ll be walking from Veterans Memorial Park to the Ansonia Police Department, 2 Elm St.
MASKS ARE REQUIRED!!!

DERBY - Teens, ages 12 to 17, are urged to join the kickoff meeting of the Derby Public Library's Audiobook Chat at 3 p.m. June 10.
You'll learn about AudiobookSync and how to access it to participate in this bi-weekly audiobook discussion, just for teens.

Rochelle: FEMA approves funding for crisis counseling in CT
HARTFORD -The State of Connecticut has received approval from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to provide crisis counseling to those who have been impacted by COVID-19.
The program will be administered by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services in cooperation with the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection.
The $669,404 grant will provide the following services:
- Crisis counseling to persons experiencing homelessness who are in shelters, hotels, and in the community, as well as staff in these facilities;
- Crisis counseling to senior citizens in congregate care settings and the community; and
- Enhancement of crisis counseling call-line services provided through United Way 2-1-1.

Derby Public Library to host Money Mindfulness virtual event
DERBY - Derby Public Library will host Money Mindfulness A Virtual Lecture at 6:30 p.m. June 22.
Sara Putney, Positive Personal Finance, leads this interactive session on how to become clear and properly manage your financial situation. She has a passion for helping individuals struggling with debt, financial clarity, and feeling like their financial situation will never improve.
From paying off approximately $66,000 of her debt over the past four years to learning how to pay off debt and enjoy her money, Sara is a money mindset enthusiast.
She now uses her money how she wants and doesn’t feel overwhelmed by the numbers. She is also a certified Financial Wellness Facilitator through the National Wellness Institute.
Zoom will be used to facilitate this program. Registration is required below.

BHcare awarded prestigious 2-year, $4M grant to expand services
BHcare was awarded a prestigious new Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant in recognition of its comprehensive range of services for children, families, and adults who are struggling with mental illness, behavioral disorders, and substance use disorder.
This two-year, $4 million Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) Expansion Grant will allow BHcare to enhance and expand its vital range of services including 24/7 mobile crisis services, Assertive Community Treatment, and integrated, on-site primary care.
BHcare is proud to be one of four organizations in the state that was awarded this non-emergency, federally appropriated CCBHC funding.
CCBHCs provide a comprehensive scope of services that create access, stabilize people in crisis, and provide the needed treatment and recovery support services for those with serious and complex mental health and substance use disorders.
CCBHCs serve children, adolescents, teens, adults and seniors in one location.
“We are excited and honored to receive the CCBHC funding,” said Roberta J. Cook, President/CEO, BHcare.
“The grant will allow us to reach more children, families and adults who are struggling with substance use disorder, mental illness and behavioral issues, and expand our programming to meet their needs. CCBHCs are the future and I’m proud to bring these critical and integrated services to our communities in the Valley and on the Shoreline.”
BHcare is a regional community provider of behavioral health, addiction prevention, and domestic violence services for the Lower Naugatuck Valley, Greater New Haven and Shoreline communities.
BHcare’s family of services include The Alliance for Prevention and Wellness, the Parent Child Resource Center, the HOPE Family Justice Center, and The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services.

Ansonia High School locker cleanup/pickup day slated June 8
ANSONIA - The Ansonia High School Locker Cleanup and Pickup date is June 8.
This is for grades 9, 10, and 11 ONLY!
Grade 12 will be on June 10. Watch for another post for Grade 12.
Parents can come pick up items at AHS from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. June 8.
You only have to come if your child used a locker and placed items in the locker they need back.
If your child used another locker they did not get permission for, there is no way to get them back their items. They will have to work with the student they shared the locker with to get the item.
