Rochelle shares statewide stats for COVID-19 cases

As of 4 p.m. Tuesday, a total of 42,979 COVID-19 cases have been reported among Connecticut residents.
This includes 40,941 lab-confirmed and 2,038 probable cases.
To better measure the burden and impact of COVID-19 on Connecticut communities and conform with CDC reporting guidance, the state Department of Public Health is reporting cases and deaths as "confirmed" or "probable." Previous reports presented these as a combined number.

Rochelle, D-Ansonia, represents the 104th District.

'Turnback Tuesday' highlights Derby Public Library clock repair

Turnback Tuesday has a repair statement written to Miss Grace Child, the first Head Librarian at Derby Public Library.
Miss Child wrote to this company that installed our beautiful atrium clock with the realization that the chimes were playing incorrectly.
Miss Child stated: “The chimes on the clock are not the same as the Westminster Chimes heard on the Cathedrals of England.”
Here is the response from the Walter H. Durfee & Co. of R.I. (and transcription) about how to make the repair.
The original letter is dated Sept. 16, 1904.

Thanks as always to the Derby Public Library staff for sharing interesting local history each week.
