It will feature live music, artisans, food trucks, children’s activities, and "green" workshops.
Festival directors Nicole Mikula and Michael Skrtic alongside the CT Folk Board of Directors have unveiled a lineup that celebrates the best in folk music and beyond. Headlining is American Singer-Songwriter Martin Sexton with Bridgeport natives The Alternate Routes as the supporting act.
Upstate, Jesse Terry Trio, Goodnight Blue Moon, Open Book and Professors of Bluegrass round out the lineup as well as this year’s audition winners, Plywood Cowboy and Auguste & Alden.
The Grassy Hill Songwriting Competition highlighting Michael Lavreanno, Mike P. Ryan, Carolann Solebello, Susan Cattaneo, and Belle of the Fall will kick off the day.
The Green Expo, open from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., highlights more than 50 exhibitors that include handmade artisans and exhibitors with innovative ideas and products for sustainable lifestyles as well as New Haven’t finest food trucks including Lalibella, P&M Orange Street Market, Life Bowls, Ben & Jerry’s and more.
For families, the Green Kids Village offers hands-on workshops including interactive drumming with Infinite Roots, hula hooping with BringtheHoopla and children’s yoga with Full of Joy Yoga as well as directed art projects, New Haven’s Artist & Craftsman Supply and the Acoustic Corner with favorite local musicians, Liz McNicholl, Benny Mikula, Dan Carlucci, and environmental magician, Cyril the Sorceror.
Now in its 26th year, The CT Folk Fest & Green Expo has organically grown into one of Connecticut’s leading folk festivals as well as presenting the largest Green Expo in the state. The festival has earned its reputation by attracting premier talent across all mediums to provide a landscape meant to please all the senses. The festival’s mixture of arts, cuisine and culture proves there is something for everyone.
A $10 donation is suggested to continue CT Folk's efforts.
Proceeds benefit CT Folk’s mission to educate, entertain, and inspire a diverse audience through music and conversation to create a socially responsible and environmentally sustainable community.
