Marathoners introduced at 11th annual Seymour Pink Pasta Dinner

At the 11th annual pasta dinner fundraiser Tuesday Seymour Pink founder Mary Deming introduced runners who will participate in the 43rd annual Marine Corps Marathon Oct. 28 in Washington, D.C. The dinner was held at Brookside Inn in Oxford.

YEP group to participate in Earth Day Shelton Clean Sweep

SHELTON - Young Emerging Professionals and the Greater Valley Chamber of Commerce will hold a cleanup day April 21.

Sharing info from a YEP Facebook event:

Help clean up litter from upper Commerce Drive by the Land Trust Open Space area and down towards the river leading upwards to Huntington Street. If there is enough help the cleanup will include lower Commerce Drive down to Bridgeport Avenue.

The City will provide gloves and bags and will pick up the trash bags we fill afterwards. PLUS they're giving out iron-on patches for those who participate so don't miss the chance for swag. Feel free to bring a friend or two! It would be awesome to cover the whole street.
Meeting Spot: 3 Corporate Drive parking lot looking out towards Commerce Drive - 9:45 a.m. so we can split up accordingly.

'Turnback Tuesday' features Derby Turnpike

'Turnback Tuesday' this week features the Derby Turnpike. 

The Derby Turnpike Company was chartered to build a toll road from New Haven to Derby in 1798. 

The Derby Turnpike was the longest-lived of the state’s early toll roads and only stopped collecting tolls in 1895. 

This picture showed the Turnpike's clover leaf junction with the Wilbur Cross Parkway (Exit 57-58) which opened at the end of 1941. The Turnpike's modern name is Route 34.
