Huntington Branch Library to host kids' holiday program Saturday

SHELTON - The Huntington Branch Library, 41 Church St., will host Read Together Club: The Christmas Party from the Black Lagoon at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

Children ages 5-9 and their caregivers can borrow copies of a goofy Christmas book from the Black Lagoon Adventures series by Mike Thaler and read the book together at home. Then come to the meeting for an activity that includes both kids and adults!

Stop in anytime Saturday between 4 and 8 p.m. with your packages and for a nominal fee, we will gift wrap your items for you while you sit back, relax, enjoy chair massages, make a craft, even play a game! 

Don’t want to stick around? You have the option to drop off the packages and pick them up later.

No staying up all hours of the night waiting for junior to go to sleep before wrapping. 
No getting caught unprepared when guests show up. No fighting for ribbons with the cat. Nice.

Chair massages to be offered by Leticia Solis of Welcome Relaxation. Solis will also be demonstrating the proper use of a smudge stick.

Angela, the Practical Medium, will be offering quick $5 readings.

Elsewhere in the Conti building, Three Bridges Coffeehouse is offering Christmas cookie decoration for $5, which includes one cookie and a cup of cider or hot chocolate from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. (Contact info@3bcoffee.net to reserve a spot.)

And the ladies at Legends of the Heart/The Odd Piece will offer light refreshments and last-minute shopping opportunities from 4-8 p.m.

Someone I know ran her first 5K in the snow ~ in Trumbull

Daughter Allegra should be proud. I know I'm proud of her accomplishment. 
She started running about two months ago, and Saturday she finished the Bridgeport Police Activities League annual 5K road race. 

There were 97 entrants, and Allegra placed near the end. But she was happy to report she wasn't the last one to cross the finish line. 

These are two scenes from the 67th annual Christmas Village at the Bridgeport PAL Complex in Trumbull where the 5K began. 

The route went through Beardsley Park and part of Beardsley Zoo - that must have been fun! 
Allegra said she "was very cold and very wet," but she "had a good time."
