Restoration of Civil War monument continues on Derby Green
I noticed Monday the scaffolding that had surrounded the Civil War monument on the Derby Green during its restoration has been taken down. The monument is being restored by Conserv Art, LLC of Hamden.
I was at the Green to attend a solemn 9/11 remembrance ceremony hosted each year by the Derby Fire Department.
It was good to see the restoration of the bronze Union soldier atop a granite pedestal is nearing completion.
Please stay tuned for photos of the 9/11 remembrance ceremony in our next Valley Voice newsletter.

Recuperation journey: Never forget
My husband Ralph and I plan to attend the memorial service on the Derby Green at 6:30 p.m. today to commemorate the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
Here are photos I took at last year's somber service:
Kudos to the Derby Fire Department for hosting this remembrance ceremony each year.
May we never forget.
